Huntingdon Historical Society

In a letter dated 22 April 2009 Lorrie Noey reviews their file on the Prigmore's which has built up over the years with a lot of June Welch's work.

Enclosed with the letter were a number of notes on Joseph, Benjamin, and Basel (many spellings).

Reinforce the view of a Prigmore out on the frontier, trading properties, and not afriad of a little litigation.

    Lorrie:

Thanks for your letter of 22 April which I have found helpful in filling in some the gaps.

You might like to visit The Prigmore Family Tree and www.ancestry.com where I have been flushing out this interesting family. Also, I have a blog when I am posting the research issues and sources: http://prigmore.blogspot.com/

I visited Huntingdon in late April and am reasonally convinced that Prigmore's Mill was located at what is now the Lion's Club park in Mill Creek and that the stream there was Prigmore's creek.

Could I request that you do a little more research to confirm this. I would suggest that if we can tract the deed from Prigmore to Christian Stover, 11 Sep 1787, then Stover to John Wartz in about 1788 and then to E. A. Green who operated a mill on the site until 1914 when it was razed. This deed should then lead into the Lion's Club. Happy to pay for this work.

You might also be interest to note that we have tracked Joseph's grandfather to a site in New Brunswick where we are planning a memorial.

    Thanks, Dan Prigmore
